The request for this living room right off the entry was to lighten up the earth-toned palette. Sherwin-Williams’ Origami White did the trick; it sets off the artwork without being overly-bright or stark. The client came to this home with a beautiful collection of furnishings and artwork. The addition of rugs anchor the furniture arrangement and provide texture and color that has then been repeated in the other elements within the space and in other rooms of the house.
This family room needed a total refurnishing with upholstery, rugs, furniture, lighting, wall color and window treatments. The springboard for the palette was the heirloom china hutch that the client envisioned having rendered in a pretty French blue. Enter Adrienne Stormer, a local artist with extraordinary talent, who transformed this beloved piece with blues, browns, golds and silvers. The sectional in a Kravet celadon chenille grounds the seating arrangement while the modernly-styled swivel chairs, sporting a crocodile-print matelasse fabric, bring an unexpected edge to the otherwise traditionally-styled decor. Interior design doesn’t always have to be so serious-have fun with it; pursue products and elements that put a smile on your face.
