San Ramon
The original foot print of the space was ill-conceived. Access from the bedroom into the bath was not direct; the clients had to walk through an area of wall closet space to get to the facilities and that closet space used its space very inefficiently.
Leaving just three exterior walls alone and keeping the existing plumbing generally where it was, I designated the left side of the space as walk-in closet, accessible from the bedroom and the right side bathroom space, also accessible from the bedroom. Another door connects the closet to the bath.
After having redecorated the client’s living, dining and family rooms in a traditional style, I was charged with devising a more contemporary look in their master suite. The springboard for the aesthetic was the shower floor done in pebbles. This set the tone for what people may describe as a “spa look” underscored by a naturalistic bent. Playing off the natural vibe of the pebbles, I selected another made-by-nature product, the stacked stone, and ran it up the wall, washing it with recessed lights. This play of light allows the subtle sparkle of the stone to shine and its varied textures to stand out. To balance the organic quality of these two products, we chose Cesarstone, a linen-textured ceramic floor tile and a wood-tone floating vanity with clean lines.
